Mazda CX-5 debuts at Frankfurt
We got the pre-Frankfurt reveal of the 2012 Mazda CX-5 last month, and we have to say it’s an impressive bit of kit and has looks as good as anything else in the sector. The new CX-5 is going up against some tough competition with very able – and very well-established – competitors like the RAV4, Tiguan, Kuga and CR-V. But, if people get past their antipathy twoards a brand that has the name of a light bulb, they will find the CX-5 is a market winner.
The Nissan X-Trail gets a facelift for 2011
You could be forgiven for thinking that Nissan has lost interest in it’s ‘proper’ SUV/4x4s, being interested only in its crossovers – the Nissan Qashqai and soon to be launched Nissan Juke. Nissan’s refusal to bring it’s desert-crushing Patrol to the UK would seem to reinforce the thought, but despite perceptions Nissan are about to launch the 2011 Nissan X-Trail facelift. The X-Trail is an on-road offroader in the old fashioned sense; not a crossover.
Part 2 of the Freelander 2 Raod Test and review
If you look at the Freelander 2 and compare its style to its modern rivals – such as the Audi Q5 – it looks a bit staid and frumpy. But change your perspective just a little and it becomes a convincing interpretation of an urban Land Rover. It’s bigger then its predecessor – taller and wider with an extra 4″ in the wheelbase – and it feels a much more grown-up vehicle than it was.
